Removing the rudder
OMG – wet wet wet – Brians repairs on the hatches are holding up – no leaks. Today the huge task of removing the shaft began. We want to check if the tree log bent the shaft or not and to remove the shaft, the rudder has to come out. This journey has tested the tenacity of Vernon, Shay, Craig, Adam, Brian and many others over the course of the week – all of whom we are extremely grateful to. Eventually they got it out and it was bent. What we learnt was that Hallberg Rassys are extremely well built …..
This is our bedroom …..where the rudder was lowered from.
