Walking to school

Anyone recogise this aircraft? Walking to Hamble School of Yachting from Rose Cottage( our temporary home for the next three weeks), I crossed the rail track in this picture and hiked across Hambles old North Airfield. After outgrowing the South airfield where AVRO 504 were built upto 1919, the north airfield was purchased and 14 of these Ensign aircraft were built here.

The airfield became known for its training school and later for fixing spitfires. All a slight diversion from the focus on yachting! However, after a few days of sight reduction tables and brain stretching asto nav - a welcome distraction.

Paul Fallow - you made taking a running fix sound easy... I have a new respect for you Air Force navigators. Great to learn the traditional method of Navigation - but very please GPS now exists.
